Mobile Crisis Team – Gerstein Crisis Centre

  • Gerstein crisis services include 24/7 telephone support, in-person mobile crisis team, community support referrals, substance use crisis management, follow-up and access to short-term crisis beds. 

2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations  

  • Call 211  

  • Services: Crisis Intervention:  De-escalation and crisis response for individuals and those around them. Primary Care:  Immediate needs such as CPR, First Aid and wound management. As well as long-term needs such as healthcare, and dental care. Harm Reduction: Substance use/overdose support, counselling, supplies and clean up. Traditional Supports:  Supporting individuals wholistically; emotionally, spiritually, physically and mentally. With access to Elders, ceremony, medicines, and cultural programming. Basic Life Needs:  Such as food, water, clothing, tents, sleeping bags, TTC fare, etc. Mental Health Support:  Access to counsellors, mental health professionals and/or Elders/Knowledge keepers. Referral Coordination:  Coordinating supports and services from various Indigenous and non- Indigenous agencies across the city, system coordination, and direct referral pathways. System Navigation: Support in navigating through systems such as shelter and housing, health care, treatment programs, and the judicial system. Family Support: Support for children, families and kin of those experiencing crisis.

CMHA Toronto Community Crisis Service

  • The Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS) is a community-led service which dispatches trained teams of crisis workers including mental health, addiction, peer, youth and Indigenous crisis workers in response to people experiencing a crisis. It is a non-police response to crisis calls and wellbeing checks, with transparent and consent-based service, culturally safe supports, and multiple pathways to access crisis and follow-up supports. 

Mobile Crisis Intervention Team – Michael Garron Hospital

  • The Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT) is a collaborative partnership between Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) and Toronto Police Service (TPS). The program partners a mental health nurse from MGH and a specially trained police officer to respond to situations involving individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.  

  • MCIT’S mandate: Make an immediate on-site clinical assessment of the person in crisis. Attempt to stabilize and defuse the crisis. Assist in removing the individual from serious harm to themselves or others. Provide supportive counselling, as needed. Arrange appropriate mental health treatment through referrals to an appropriate agency or apprehension under the Mental Health Act. Coordinate and facilitate transportation to the hospital emergency department if further psychiatric and medical assessment is required 

Scarborough Health Network Crisis Support

  • Crisis programs support individuals in crisis and provide continued service based on urgency. Scarborough Health Network (SHN) crisis programs are available for individuals currently accessing mental health care services, as well as those requiring mental health care services for the first time. The crisis program is fully integrated and coordinated with the hospital’s Mental Health program and the broader mental health care system. 

  • Support for mental health crises can be accessed through the emergency departments at SHN’s Birchmount, Centenary, and General hospitals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A crisis worker is available on site 24/7 to provide assistance for individuals experiencing an emotional or psychiatric crisis.

Coverage is now available throughout the City of Toronto.
