Tom Willman
Associate | Project Assistant
Tom (he/him) was born and raised on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples in White Rock, British Columbia. He is a proud Métis Nation of British Columbia citizen, with Métis ancestry on his father’s side from Saint-Boniface, Manitoba. His maternal roots connect him to the West Coast of B.C., with British ancestry and family ties to Langley. Tom currently lives, learns, and works in Tkaronto, on Treaty 13 territory, home to the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and spent over six years working in social services supporting Indigenous communities in Metro Vancouver. He recently completed a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto and will begin his PhD in Clinical and Counselling Psychology in the fall.
Tom’s therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and relationship. He practices from a person-centered, trauma-informed, and emotion-focused lens, with a deep belief in the healing power of story. He works holistically with people across the lifespan and is committed to supporting diverse communities, including 2SLGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals. Tom is especially passionate about working alongside Indigenous clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, identity, and experiences of marginalization.
In addition to his role as an Associate Therapist, Tom serves as a Project Assistant at Weaving Wellness, contributing to research and community-based initiatives focused on Indigenous mental health and well-being.
