Sophie (they/them), is a passionate and dedicated queer non-Indigenous helper, born and raised in Toronto, ON. Armed with a Bachelor's Degree in Sexuality, Relationships, and Family Studies, Sophie has honed their skills through an Honours Counselling Specialization and a Human Services Practicum Specialization at the University of Waterloo. Currently serving as the primary administrative support at the Weaving Wellness Centre, Sophie juggles various responsibilities, including welcoming new clients, managing payment processes, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. Their commitment to the organization extends beyond daily tasks, as Sophie actively contributes to fostering a supportive and empowering environment within the team.
Sophie's journey includes valuable experiences with the Toronto and York Region Métis Council, where they engaged in outreach and administrative work. With a heartfelt aspiration to strengthen community connections within Métis and Indigenous circles, Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to their role at the Weaving Wellness Centre. Guided by an anti-oppressive lens, Sophie approaches their work with a systemic mindset, consistently asking critical questions and conducting thorough research to address them. They marvel at the skills and wisdom within the Weaving Wellness team, expressing gratitude for the shared commitment to community care and land-based approaches to healing.
Outside the realm of their professional life, Sophie finds solace and joy in nature, channeling their creativity through art, and cherishing moments spent with their partners.
