Project Assistant

Sabastian Koprich

Sabastian Koprich (he/him) is a proud Métis scholar with mixed-settler ancestry, tracing his roots to the Solomon and Berger/Beaudoin family lines of Georgian Bay. His great-great-grandfather once tended the Gereaux Island Lighthouse in Byng Inlet, and his upbringing on a lavender farm in Delhi, Ontario, continues to shape his connection to land and water. Now based in Tkaronto, Sabastian carries these influences into his work and studies.

He holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Trent University and is completing a Master’s in Public Health specializing in Indigenous Health at the University of Toronto. Over the past 2.5 years, Sabastian has contributed to the Métis Nation of Ontario Healing and Wellness Branch and trained with Transform Heart Failure at the University Health Network. He also serves on the Métis Languages Initiative and Great Lakes Advisory Group.

Sabastian’s research focuses on Métis community health, combining Indigenous health methodologies with innovative approaches to cardiovascular health and land-based healing. He is dedicated to advancing wellness in Métis communities and beyond. As a Project Assistant at Weaving Wellness, Sabastian supports community-based and research projects centered on Indigenous mental health and wellness.
