Danna Henderson
Research Assistant
Danna Henderson (she/her) is an Anishinaabe and Nakota woman from Pasqua First Nation in Saskatchewan, located on Treaty 4 Territory, where she currently resides and is raising her three children. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse with over 10 years of experience providing care in rural acute, emergency, and long-term care settings. Danna is currently completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto and is supporting the Weaving Wellness Centre as a Research Assistant.
Danna’s work is grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, strengths-based practice, and trauma-informed care. She is deeply committed to Indigenous family wellbeing and to strengthening access to culturally responsive supports for individuals and families navigating complex and often fragmented systems of care.
As part of Danna’s work with the Weaving Wellness Centre, she will support a research project focused on suicide prevention and intervention within Indigenous communities. Her work will entail supporting qualitative interviewing and transcription, and community-guided program planning. Danna’s research approach is guided by Indigenous research ethics and community-led research principles. She is committed to advocacy and improving social services for Indigenous families and communities.
