Chrysta Wood

Associate | Social Worker

Chrysta (she/her) has deep family roots in the Métis community of Manigotagan, is a member of Hollow Water First Nation (Anishinaabe, Treaty 5), and grew up in the North End of Winnipeg.  She also has ancestry rooted in Ireland and the Shetland Islands.  She currently resides with her partner on his ancestral lands in Naotkamegwanning in Treaty 3 territory. She holds a Master of Social Work based in Indigenous Knowledges from the University of Manitoba where she also completed her Bachelor of Social Work degree at the Inner-City Campus.  She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and the Manitoba College of Social Workers.   

Chrysta strives to practice from a place of humility, honouring the wisdom that her clients bring into each session. Chrysta uses a wholistic approach in her practice that is strengths-based, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed.  She has trained in a variety of modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She specializes in supporting folks who are experiencing grief, loss, low mood, anxiety, and trauma.  She is also passionate about working with neurodiverse youth and young adults. Chrysta believes that being invited to hold space for others is a privilege.
