Kristen Daigle
Associate | Social Worker
Kristen Daigle (she/her) is Mushkegowuk (Cree), a member of Constance Lake First Nation in Treaty 9, and of French ancestry. She holds a Master's in Social Work from the University of Toronto and an Honors Bachelor's degree from Queen’s University in Art History with a focus on contemporary Indigenous art. Kristen’s grandmother was a well-known Mushkegowuk language instructor and Knowledge Keeper whose familial roots lie in Fort Albany First Nation. Her culturally led healing work is rooted in these kinship relations and histories of the muskegs.
Kristen’s experience as a mental health practitioner is based on her years of community-based arts work, group facilitation, and community organizing. She brings a relational approach in her use of modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills-based work. Kristen is also interested in exploring with clients how they experience emotions and feelings in their bodies as opposed to only cognitively, bringing in aspects of Somatic therapy.
As a practitioner, Kristen values self-determination, seeking to help clients discover their own core beliefs and allowing clients to be more self-led. She seeks to meet clients where they're at through a non-judgmental, curious, and strengths-based approach. Her main area of expertise is working with clients experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, CPTSD, intergenerational trauma, and those struggling with identity and childhood trauma. Her previous community-based work also makes her particularly suitable for working with activists and artists.
