About Us

The Weaving Wellness Centre was founded in January 2020 by Tera Beaulieu. As a psychotherapist, Tera had a clear vision for a clinical and consulting practice that would be rooted in principles of story, wholism, spirit, relationship and justice. In its clinical and consulting work, the Centre welcomes and aims to support all those who are focused on growth, transformation and change, and specializes in working with Indigenous peoples and communities from culturally grounded perspectives of mental health, well-being and healing. The Weaving Wellness Centre and its helpers are committed to innovation and education within the field of mental health, and endeavour to contribute and create positive change to understandings of wellness and healing within individual, community and National spaces.

Story

We all create and tell stories – creation began with a story, and so do we. We make meaning of our identity, experiences and lives through the act of storytelling, by weaving together moments in time that are important to us. We believe that story is fundamental to the process of change, growth and healing and encourage our clients to reflect on the stories they wish to tell about themselves and their lives

Wholism

We understand health and wellness exists across mental, emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of being. We centre these four interconnected aspects of the self, family and community in our work, and bring this lens to our therapeutic practices and the initiatives we engage in

Spirit

We believe that each individual has a sacred fire within, or spirit, and that we all have unique gifts and abilities that we are meant to discover, develop and share with the world around us. We deeply believe that every person’s life has purpose and meaning, and understand that part of our work as helpers is to support our clients in nourishing the sacredness of self

Relationship

We highly value the relationships that are built between our clients and our circle of practitioners. Relationships are at the heart of our work, and we embody principles of respect and collaboration in everything we do. We believe healing can occur within the context of trusting and secure relationships, and take great care in building and honouring the relationship between client and helper

Justice

Weaving Wellness is a social justice-oriented Centre that embodies anti-racist, feminist, and queer-positive approaches in all that we do. We embrace a systems perspective of mental health and wellness and understand that complex factors shape and inform our experiences and impact our well-being

The Weaving Wellness Centre’s logo illustrates multiple strands of thread being woven together to create a strengthened and coherent whole. The various colours represent the unique individuals from the different walks of life that we work and engage with. The active movement of the threading represents the continuous and fluid nature of life, growth, change and healing. The intersecting and interconnected threads reflect how experiences of both hardship and beauty can be interwoven together, and how the weaving of wellness is an intricate story of spirit and strength. The Weaving Wellness Centre extends our deepest thanks to illustrator/designer Elise St. Germain for capturing the spirit of the Centre's work so beautifully.
